One of the most popular Middle Eastern and Mediterranean restaurants in the Metro is Mister Kabab. The first branch that I've been to is the one in Matalino St. But I'll be doing a review on the Blue Wave branch along Diosdado Macapagal Boulevard.
As I mentioned in yesterday's review of Khas Food House, the keema (minced meat) is a staple and often bestseller item in any Middle Eastern-themed restaurant. And so we just had to try Mister Kabab's keema (P80). It's slightly more expensive than Khas' but the serving is bigger. The meat is also finer in texture, though I would have preferred a little more potato in it to balance out the slightly salty taste of the meat.
Their menu is also slightly different from Khas. We ordered two unfamiliar dishes. One is shrimp and mushroom (P110) which I fell in love with. Though I would suggest that they change it to shrimp, mushroom and potatoes since there were more potatoes than shrimp. Anyway, you could just taste the shrimp (I am crazy for seafood) from the slightly seasoned (with spices) and succulent mushrooms. And the potatoes were really soft (in a good way) but not as mushy as mashed potato.
And there's also the surprisingly delicious chicken liver dish (P100). It's like dried menudo. It was really good too.
Oh and don't forget their butter-topped plain rice which at P33 a serving I find a little overpriced. Anyway, it tastes really good with the butter.
By the way, when you go out with a group, make sure you order one from every meat group: pork/beef, fish/seafood and chicken.
